Champaign, IL (June 3, 2020)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Pierre Lacasse as the 2020 recipient of the Zoetis Physiology Award. Lacasse will be recognized during the virtual ADSA Annual Meeting.

The Zoetis Physiology Award was created to recognize outstanding research in dairy cattle physiology. The winner must have research work in any area of animal physiology relating to the dairy animal published in refereed journals in the 5 years immediately preceding the year of recognition and have been a member of ADSA for at least the last 5 successive years.

Pierre Lacasse has made outstanding contributions to the understanding of the biological processes controlling lactation and immune resistance as well as to the development of tools and methods to improve the health, well-being, and longevity of dairy cows. Most remarkably, his results on the role of prolactin during ongoing lactation revived the importance of this hormone and have led to the development of a product sold in several countries. Postpartum incomplete milking improves health and reproduction and is now adopted by a growing number of dairy farms. He is also involved in the management of large integrated research programs.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and Zoetis present Pierre Lacasse with the 2020 Zoetis Physiology Award.
