Centennial Posters

The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) will celebrate its 100th birthday during the annual meeting at Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2006. For this centennial year meeting one goal is to highlight the many contributions that have been made to improve milk production, efficiency of production, and quality of nutritious dairy foods provided for consumers. Our ADSA Exhibit and Publicity Committee is encouraging Departments of Dairy Science, Animal Science and Food Science and government institutions in the United States and Canada as well as ADSA Sustaining Members to highlight contributions they have made to these scientific advancements. Our committee is asking each university, government institution, and sustaining member of ADSA to provide a poster related to dairy production and (or) a poster related to dairy foods that describes their contributions as they relate to the missions of teaching, research, extension, and outreach to the dairy industry and ADSA. Please emphasize the contributions that have been made at your institution/organization during the 100 years from 1906 to 2006. This is your opportunity to showcase your history, accomplishments, and contributions.

For the 2006 Centennial meeting our committee asks that an abstract be submitted for each poster that is prepared and that a copy of the poster be brought to the meeting in Minnesota for display. Posters will be exhibited throughout the meeting. We will also display your poster on the ADSA Centennial website so we ask that you upload your poster through the website listed below. In addition, please upload a logo of your company, university, or group so that we can include it with your poster.

The deadline for abstract, poster, and logo submission is April 13, 2006.

Abstract specifications
The abstract should be a summary of the information found on the poster. There is a limit of 2,300 keystrokes.

Poster specifications (physical)
A space of 96" wide and 48" high will be allocated for each poster, so posters should be prepared to fit within this surface area. It is recommended that the poster title be at least 1" tall (72pt) and that no text on the poster be smaller that 1/4" tall (18pt).

Poster file specifications (for uploading)
The uploaded poster file will be used primarily for online viewing and is not intended to be a full-resolution, print-ready copy of your poster. The size of the uploaded poster file is limited to 50MB (see tips for reducing file size). We would prefer to receive a compressed raster image version of your poster (such as a JPG, PNG, TIFF, or GIF file). The image should be at a resolution of 72, 96, or 144 dpi at the actual printed dimensions. 72 dpi is prefered unless your poster is significantly smaller than 96" x 48" or if your text and graphics aren't legible at 72 dpi. In this case you may use 96 or 144 dpi provided that the file is under 50 MB in size. (If your poster isn't legible at 144 dpi then your text will be too small to be easily read on your printed poster.) Click here for more instructions for exporting your poster to these specifications using some common applications.

Provided that your original poster file is under 50 MB in size and it is in one of the file formats listed below, you may upload that instead of exporting a raster image version to upload. The supported file formats are: PDF (.pdf), Postscript (.ps), PowerPoint (.ppt), Word Document (.doc), Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Adobe Photoshop (.psd), JPEG (.jpg or .jpe), GIF (.gif), TIFF (.tif), PNG (.png), EPS (.eps), and Windows Bitmap (.bmp). Regardless of the file you upload, your poster will be converted into a PDF file for posting online. If you are sending a font-based file (such as a PDF, Postscript, PowerPoint, etc file) please be sure to embed all fonts that you use.

If your original poster file is over 50 MB and your application is unable to export a compressed raster image version, please contact web@assochq.org for assistance.

Logo file specifications (for uploading)
Logos should be no larger than 200 pixels wide by 150 pixels high. They can be in any of the following formats: PDF (.pdf), Postscript (.ps), PowerPoint (.ppt), JPEG (.jpg or .jpe), GIF (.gif), TIFF (.tif), PNG (.png), EPS (.eps), Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Adobe Photoshop (.psd), or Windows Bitmap (.bmp).
