Champaign, IL (June 3, 2020)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Michael Steele as the 2020 recipient of the ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production. Steele will be recognized during the virtual ADSA Annual Meeting.

The ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production was created to recognize a young scholar from the production division and their potential in research and educational leadership and to identify critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. Special requirements include 10 years or less since receiving a final academic degree, current active membership in ADSA, exemplary research or educational programs (instruction, extension, or industry), and potential for future leadership. The winner must deliver a symposium-type address at the ADSA Annual Meeting that should focus on critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. A written manuscript of the lecture must be submitted to the Journal of Dairy Science®, which will then be reviewed and published in an appropriate section of the journal.

For his innovation in, and commitment to, research and teaching in the field of dairy cow and calf management and nutrition, Michael Steele has been awarded the 2020 ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production. As a result of a life-long passion for enhancing the nutrition and health of dairy cattle, Steele has established a highly productive research and training program and continuously transfers scientific knowledge to industry stakeholders. His combined scientific record and industry experience has made a notable impact on our national and international dairy industry.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the ADSA Foundation present Michael Steele with the 2020 ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production.
