Champaign, IL (May 19, 2021)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Geoffrey E. Dahl as the 2021 recipient of the ADSA Award of Honor. Dahl will be recognized during the virtual ADSA Annual Meeting.
The ADSA Award of Honor was created to recognize unusually outstanding and consistent contributions to the welfare of the association or distinguished service to the association. The award is primarily for services to ADSA, with career achievements or contributions to other segments of the dairy industry receiving secondary consideration. The winner must have been a member of ADSA for 25 years or more, be living when nominated, and have served ADSA with unusual distinction.
A member of ADSA since 1986, Geoffrey E. Dahl has served ADSA with distinction throughout his career. Dahl has been actively engaged in the two primary outputs of ADSA, the Journal of Dairy Science and the annual meeting. He has made significant contributions to the management of dairy cows with his work on photoperiod and heat stress abatement. Dahl has been a successful administrator, particularly in strengthening the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida to achieve global recognition for dairy and beef cattle research and extension. Thus, he has served the entire industry, and the discipline of dairy science, with distinction.
It is with great pleasure that ADSA presents Geoffrey E. Dahl with the 2021 ADSA Award of Honor.
