Champaign, IL (May 19, 2021)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Leluo Guan as the 2021 recipient of the Zoetis Physiology Award. Guan will be recognized during the virtual ADSA Annual Meeting.
The Zoetis Physiology Award was created to recognize outstanding research in dairy cattle physiology. The winner must have research work in any area of animal physiology relating to the dairy animal published in refereed journals in the five years immediately preceding the year of recognition and have been a member of ADSA for at least the last five successive years.
Leluo Guan has made outstanding contributions to the understanding of host–microbial interactions and their contributions to the physiology and metabolism of dairy cattle. Guan has led the development of a new area of research in functional genomics and host–microbial interactions in elucidating the regulatory mechanisms of economically important traits such as feed efficiency, milk protein yield, and gut development and health at the molecular level. Her research has led to the understanding of the biology underlying quality, production, and health and welfare traits and to new opportunities for innovation and application to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the dairy industry.
It is with great pleasure that ADSA and Zoetis present Leluo Guan with the 2021 Zoetis Physiology Award.
