Champaign, IL (May 19, 2021)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Marshall Stern has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. Stern will be recognized during the virtual ADSA Annual Meeting.
The purpose of the ADSA Fellow Award is to recognize Dairy Foods division and Production division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.
Marshall Stern received his PhD from the University of Maine. He has been an innovative teacher and researcher at the University of Minnesota since 1981. He has taught animal and ruminant nutrition to undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary students, who impact the dairy industry as nutrition consultants, feed industry representatives, large animal veterinarians, and dairy herd producers. He has advised 14 PhD and 23 MS students to completion of their graduate degrees. He is well known for his research studying rumen microbial fermentation and protein utilization by dairy cattle and has published more than 250 refereed articles and scientific abstracts.
It is with great pleasure that ADSA presents Marshall Stern with the 2021 Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association distinction.
