Champaign, IL (May 19, 2021)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce MaryAnne Drake as the 2021 recipient of the Zinpro Award for Excellence in Dairy Science. Drake will be recognized during the virtual ADSA Annual Meeting.
The Zinpro Award for Excellence in Dairy Science was created to recognize outstanding research in dairy production or manufacturing contributing to improvement or care of dairy cattle and development and improvement of processes, products, equipment, methods, handling, and sanitation. The winner must have made meritorious scientific contributions or discoveries pertaining to dairy production, manufacturing, and technology. These contributions may be published research data, plans, processes, devices, or inventions significant and beneficial to the dairy industry through either theory or practical application and may have been made while the winner was employed in public and/or private institutions and/or industry. The winner must also have published the research during the 10 calendar years immediately prior to the year of the award and must be and have been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years.
MaryAnne Drake is a William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences, Southeast Dairy Foods Research Center, North Carolina State University, where she conducts research on the flavor and flavor chemistry of dairy products. Drake is past president of ADSA, director of the Sensory Service Center, and director of the Southeast Dairy Foods Research Center.
