DEBORAH GRUSENMEYER RECEIVES THE HOARD’S DAIRYMAN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Champaign, IL (May 9, 2022)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Deborah Grusenmeyer as the 2022 recipient of the Hoard’s Dairyman Youth Development Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hoard’s Dairyman Youth Development Award was created to recognize a candidate who has had significant involvement in dairy-related youth activities in either a professional or a volunteer capacity for a minimum of 10 years. The recipient shall be highly regarded in the dairy industry for his or her role in personal development of dairy youths and for enhancing knowledge of and interest in the dairy industry. The winner need not be a member of ADSA and may have worked with youths of any age, up to and including college, in many possible capacities, such as coach, counselor, teacher, adviser, mentor, chaperone, or supervisor.

Deborah Grusenmeyer is passionate and dedicated to working with young people who have an interest in dairy and agriculture through 4-H, Future Farmers of America, and college. Grusenmeyer provides leadership for developing, coordinating, and implementing New York State Dairy Youth programs, which include 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl, 4-H Dairy Judging, 4-H Dairy Challenge, and Dairy Discovery. She is also the director of her flagship programs the New York State Junior Dairy Leader and Beginning Dairy Leader, which are yearlong programs designed for high school students to explore dairy careers and build their leadership skills. She has coached numerous National Championship teams in 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl and has taken over 500 youth to the National 4-H Dairy Conference. She mentors undergraduate students and is the advisor for the Professional Women in Agriculture Sorority, Sigma Alpha.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and Hoard’s Dairyman present Deborah Grusenmeyer with the 2022 Hoard’s Dairyman Youth Development Award.
