Alexander Hristov receives the Nutrition Professionals Inc. Applied Dairy Nutrition Award

Champaign, IL (June 1, 2023)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Alexander Hristov as the 2023 recipient of the Nutrition Professionals Inc. Applied Dairy Nutrition Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The Nutrition Professionals Inc. Applied Dairy Nutrition Award was created to stimulate and recognize outstanding achievement in research, teaching, extension, or industry in applied dairy nutrition. The winner must have made significant contributions to the dairy industry in the area of applied dairy nutrition in one or more areas, such as applied nutrition research related to improved production efficiency, reproductive function, or herd health; integration of innovative nutritional management practices into profitable management systems; or education (including technology transfer and extension) and application of nutritional information to students, producers, and the public. The winner must have made the contribution within 10 years prior to the year of the award and have been a member of ADSA for at least five consecutive years. They must also be a resident of the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

Alexander N. Hristov, PhD, is a distinguished professor of dairy nutrition in the Department of Animal Science at The Pennsylvania State University. He has a BS from the Higher Institute of Zooengineering and Veterinary Medicine (Stara Zagora, Bulgaria) and a PhD in animal nutrition from the Bulgaria Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Hristov has worked as a research scientist in his native Bulgaria, at the US Department of Agriculture–Agricultural Research Service Dairy Forage Research Center in Madison, Wisconsin, and the Ag Canada Research Center in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He was on the faculty at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Science at the University of Idaho and has been at The Pennsylvania State University since 2008.
