Champaign, IL (June 1, 2023)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Curtis Youngs as the 2023 recipient of the Purina Animal Nutrition Teaching Award in Dairy Production. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The Purina Animal Nutrition Teaching Award in Dairy Production was created to recognize outstanding teaching of undergraduate students in dairy science. The winner must have demonstrated outstanding ability as a teacher of undergraduate students of dairy science in an accredited college or university, have been an active teacher when nominated with not less than a total of 10 years of active teaching preceding, and have been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years.

Curtis R. Youngs, PhD, has taught more than 11,150 undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary students in six countries across four continents. The embryo transfer lecture and laboratory courses he developed are the only standalone embryo transfer courses available for undergraduate students anywhere in the United States. In his International Animal Agriculture course, he debunks unsubstantiated claims attacking the dairy cattle industry and explains how the US dairy industry has reduced its carbon footprint and serves as a model for developing nations. His impact does not stop at the classroom door; he advises students academically, mentors undergraduate research assistants, and delivers webinars globally.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and Purina Animal Nutrition present Curtis Youngs with the 2023 Purina Animal Nutrition Teaching Award in Dairy Production.
