Champaign, IL (June 1, 2023)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce that Geoffrey Dahl has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. The award will be presented on Sunday, June 25, 2023, during the opening session at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The purpose of the ADSA Fellow distinction is to recognize Dairy Foods division and Production division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.

A member of ADSA since 1986, Geoffrey E. Dahl, PhD, MS, has served ADSA with distinction throughout his career. Dahl has been actively engaged in the two primary outputs of ADSA, the Journal of Dairy Science and the annual meeting. He’s made significant contributions to the management of dairy cows with his work on photoperiod and heat stress abatement. Dahl has been a successful administrator, particularly in strengthening the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida to achieve global recognition for dairy and beef cattle research and extension. Thus, he has served the entire industry, and the discipline of dairy science, with distinction.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA presents Geoffrey Dahl with the 2023 Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association distinction.
