Champaign, IL (June 1, 2023)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA) is pleased to announce Jessica McArt as the 2023 recipient of the ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production was created to recognize a young scholar from the Production division and their potential in research and educational leadership and to identify critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. Special requirements include 10 years or less since receiving a final academic degree, current active membership in ADSA, exemplary research or educational programs (instruction, extension, or industry), and potential for future leadership. The winner must deliver a symposium-type address at the ADSA Annual Meeting that should focus on critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. A written manuscript of the lecture must be submitted to the Journal of Dairy Science®, which will then be reviewed and published in an appropriate section of the journal.
Jess McArt, DVM, PhD, DABVP (Dairy Practice), is an associate professor of ambulatory and production medicine in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. A diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, McArt performs clinical service for the Ambulatory and Production Medicine Clinic, teaches veterinary students both in the classroom and on farms, and conducts applied research. Her research program at the McArt Dairy Cow Lab focuses on the identification, epidemiology, and economics of periparturient metabolic diseases in dairy cows.
It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the ADSA Foundation present Jessica McArt with the 2023 ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production.
