Champaign, IL (June 1, 2023)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Michel A. Wattiaux as the 2023 recipient of the ADSA Award of Honor. The award will be presented on Sunday, June 25, 2023, during the opening session at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The ADSA Award of Honor was created to recognize unusually outstanding and consistent contributions to the welfare of the association or distinguished service to the association. The award is primarily for services to ADSA, with career achievements or contributions to other segments of the dairy industry receiving secondary consideration. The winner must have been a member of ADSA for 25 years or more, be living when nominated, and have served ADSA with unusual distinction.

Michel Wattiaux has contributed consistently to the welfare of ADSA for the past 37 years. He has engaged tirelessly in the association’s dairy science instruction, research, and outreach endeavors. Wattiaux has served as a planner, organizer, implementer, speaker, panelist, author, reviewer, mentor, and ad hoc volunteer in support of ADSA’s mission. This award is also a testimony to his career achievements and contributions to other segments of the dairy industry, as evidenced by previous awards, including the 2002 International Dairy Production Award, the 2006 Purina Animal Nutrition Teaching Award in Dairy Production, and the 2021 ADSA Fellow Award.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA presents Michel A. Wattiaux with the 2023 ADSA Award of Honor.
