Champaign, IL (June 7, 2024)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Brittney Davidson as the 2024 recipient of the ADSA Midwest Scholar Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The ADSA Midwest Scholars Award recognizes and features the research accomplishments of recent PhD graduates or current PhD students from the ADSA Midwest Branch in the advanced stages of their program (i.e., within 12 months of degree completion) at the ADSA Annual Meeting. The intent of the Young Scholars Program is to recognize the accomplishments of students in many disciplines through an invited presentation format; it is not intended as a competition.
Brittney Davidson was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida, with no dairy background. She found a passion for dairy cows through internships at the University of Florida, where she completed her BS in animal science with a concentration in food animal production in 2018. She obtained her MS in animal science in 2020 under the co-advisement of Jimena Laporta, PhD, and Geoffrey Dahl, PhD. Davidson is currently a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, studying the multigenerational effects of heat stress under Laporta’s advisement.
