Champaign, IL (June 7, 2024)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Jessica Lemos Motta as the 2024 recipient of the ADSA Midwest Scholar Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The ADSA Midwest Scholars Award recognizes and features the research accomplishments of recent PhD graduates or current PhD students from the ADSA Midwest Branch in the advanced stages of their program (i.e., within 12 months of degree completion) at the ADSA Annual Meeting. The intent of the Young Scholars Program is to recognize the accomplishments of students in many disciplines through an invited presentation format; it is not intended as a competition.

Jessica Lemos Motta is a PhD candidate at The Ohio State University under the mentorship of Alvaro Garcia Guerra, PhD, DVM. Motta is a native of Brazil, where she earned her veterinary degree from São Paulo State University (2016) and her MSc in animal sciences from the University of São Paulo (2019), studying under Roberto Sartori, PhD. Her current research centers on optimizing ovarian superstimulation protocols for in vitro embryo production in cattle. A significant aspect of her work involves considering the follicular population of the donor, using anti-Müllerian hormone as a tool.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the ADSA Midwest Branch present Jessica Lemos Motta with the 2024 ADSA Midwest Scholar Award.
